MIHEI is a direct maternal care provider. Through MotherCare and MIHEI HMO, we stay with each mother from pregnancy through the months after birth, combining home care, coverage and community.

Our needs assessment heard from more than 1,000 pregnant and new mothers in Lagos, and found that only 1 in 10 had any health insurance.

What we learned shaped what we do now. MIHEI enrols mothers in affordable health coverage and follows each one through birth and postpartum. In 2026 we introduced MotherCare, bringing nurse-midwives to mothers' homes.

Through donations, grants, partnerships and membership fees for MotherCare. Programme surplus funds free care for mothers who cannot pay.

No. We work alongside doctors, midwives and facilities, helping mothers reach and use the care they need.
